Kenya’s
Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and The Digital Economy, William
Kabogo has officially opened CyberWeek
Africa (CWA) 2025 at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) in
Nairobi, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to strengthening cybersecurity and
digital resilience across the continent.
Running
from October 27 to 31, 2025,
CyberWeek Africa is the continent’s premier summit on Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI),
bringing together government officials, industry leaders, academia, and
innovators to address Africa’s evolving digital challenges.

This
year’s conference, themed “Compliance by Design,” focuses on embedding
trust, ethics, and resilience into Africa’s digital governance frameworks. The
event serves as a strategic platform for sharing best practices, fostering
collaboration, and charting pathways toward a secure and inclusive digital ecosystem.
In
his keynote address, Hon. Kabogo emphasized Kenya’s proactive measures in
safeguarding its digital landscape through the adoption of robust policies and
frameworks to counter threats such as data
theft, AI-driven intrusions, phishing, and ransomware. He
reiterated that cybersecurity must remain a central pillar of Africa’s digital
transformation and development agenda.
Dignitaries
in attendance included H.E. Gideon
Behar, Israeli Ambassador to Kenya; H.E. Maroš Mitrík, Ambassador of
Slovakia to Kenya; Prof. Nura Mohamed,
Director General of KSG; Samuel Cheng,
Managing Director of Huawei Kenya; and Mr.
Emmanuel Kimeu, Secretary of ICT, Security, and Audit Control,
alongside several members of the diplomatic corps and global cybersecurity
experts.

Hon.
Kabogo concluded that through unity, innovation, and collaboration, Africa has
the capacity to build a secure,
robust, and sovereign digital future that empowers its people
and strengthens its global digital footprint.
