MTN Nigeria brought together top policy and business leaders for the Nigeria–South Africa Economic Diplomacy Roundtable in Lagos, a high-level forum focused on transforming bilateral intent into actionable economic collaboration.

The event, hosted by MTN Nigeria, welcomed H.E. Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, and H.E. Thandi Moraka, South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, among other key stakeholders from both nations.

Discussions at the roundtable centered on three priority areas: executing the outcomes of the Bi-National Commission (BNC), advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) through a Nigeria–South Africa digital corridor, and enabling talent mobility via mutual recognition of scarce digital skills.

MTN Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Karl Olutokun Toriola, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to fostering stronger digital and economic ties between the two countries. “Our focus is to turn intent into execution, creating a trusted Nigeria–South Africa digital corridor where trade, talent, and innovation can move seamlessly,” he stated.

The event was held in partnership with the Nigeria–South Africa Chamber of Commerce, emphasizing a joint public-private approach to deepen trade, investment, and digital cooperation between Lagos and Johannesburg.

With shared determination from both governments and the private sector, the roundtable marked another step toward building a sustainable corridor of growth, innovation, and opportunity across the continent.
