Ethiopia and Brazil explore stronger cooperation in telecommunications

The
Ethiopian Communications Authority (ECA) hosted H.E. Mr. Carlos Baigorri,
President of Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL), on a
courtesy visit to its headquarters in Addis Ababa to discuss enhanced
collaboration in the telecommunications and digital sectors.
During
the meeting, ECA Director General Engineer Balcha Reba and Mr. Baigorri
explored opportunities for bilateral cooperation in areas such as ICT
regulation, spectrum management, 5G readiness, fair competition, and digital
inclusion.
Mr.
Baigorri also presented Brazil’s candidacy for a seat on the ITU Council and
his personal bid for the position of ITU Deputy Secretary-General, emphasizing
Brazil’s dedication to advancing global digital transformation.
Both
parties expressed their commitment to strengthening partnerships and promoting
inclusive connectivity to support the growth of digital ecosystems in Africa
and Latin America.
