Namibia
has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the growing threat of cybercrime by
signing the Convention Against Cybercrime during a high-level conference in
Hanoi, Vietnam.
Speaking
at the signing ceremony, Minister of Information and Communication Technology
Emma Theofelus said Namibia was stepping onto the world stage with conviction
and determination to confront cyber threats that endanger societies and
economies.
“We
come ready to partner with all nations of goodwill to build a safer, more
secure, and more just digital world — united for the common good of humanity,” Theofelus stated.
The
Convention aims to strengthen international cooperation in combating crimes
committed through information and communication technology systems. It also
provides a framework for the exchange of electronic evidence to address serious
crimes, marking a major step toward enhancing global cybersecurity
collaboration.
