The
Gabonese Agency for Space Studies and
Observations (AGEOS) is participating in CACSA Week 2025, held from 20 to 24
October in Deginq, China, at the invitation of the China-Africa Cooperation Center on Satellite Remote
Sensing Application (CACSA). The event brings together African
and Chinese space institutions to explore innovative remote sensing solutions
that advance sustainable development across the continent.
Led
by Aboubakar Mambimba Ndjoungui,
Director General of AGEOS, the Gabonese delegation showcased several practical
applications of satellite observation, including sustainable urban development
and environmental quality monitoring, water resource and land management,
public policy evaluation, and natural disaster risk management.

On
the sidelines of the symposium, AGEOS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Land Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center
of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China. The
agreement provides for the daily
reception of very high-resolution satellite images—ranging from
2 to 5 meters—marking a major step forward in Gabon’s capacity for territorial
monitoring, environmental management, and sustainable economic planning.
This
partnership underscores Gabon’s commitment to deepening China-Africa cooperation in space science and
technology, while reinforcing its regional leadership in the
use of satellite data for sustainable development and scientific sovereignty.
