The
Collaboration on International ICT Policy for East and Southern Africa (CIPESA)
has convened a high-level meeting in Lesotho to validate recommendations for
the country’s National Data Management Plan and Data Management Policy.
The
session aims to ensure a consensus-driven approach that aligns Lesotho’s data
governance framework with continental best practices.

The
event was attended by the Minister for ICT, Honourable Nthati Moorosi; the
Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science,
Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Kanono Ramashamole; and Anna Renieri, Head
of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Lesotho.
The
initiative forms part of CIPESA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen data
governance, transparency, and digital rights across Africa by supporting
governments to develop policies that enhance data protection, accessibility,
and accountability.

Through
this collaborative engagement, Lesotho is taking a significant step toward
establishing a robust national framework that promotes effective data
management and fosters inclusive digital development.
