The
Regional African Satellite Communication Organisation (RASCOM) and the
International Telecommunication Union (ITU) are set to deepen their
collaboration to accelerate digital transformation and bridge connectivity gaps
across Africa.
This
follows a meeting between RASCOM’s Director General, Timothy Ashong, and Dr. Cosmas Zavazava, Director of the
ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT), during which both leaders
explored ways to enhance cooperation in promoting sustainable and inclusive
digital ecosystems on the continent.
Discussions
focused on developing innovative solutions to expand digital infrastructure and
ensure equitable access to connectivity for underserved communities. The
partnership aims to support Africa’s broader digital agenda through joint
initiatives that foster resilience, sustainability, and innovation in the
telecommunications sector.
Mr.
Ashong reaffirmed RASCOM’s commitment to working closely with the ITU and other
international stakeholders to drive Africa’s digital transformation and empower
communities through accessible and reliable communication technologies.
