The
Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) has held a
high-level Strategic Partnership Engagement on Monday with key development
finance institutions, including the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA),
Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), African Development Bank (AfDB), New
Development Bank, and the National Treasury.
The
session, chaired by Minister Solly Malatsi, focused on enhancing inter-entity
collaboration within the DCDT portfolio and identifying mechanisms to
strengthen partnerships between government, the private sector, and
international stakeholders.
The
Minister stressed the importance of leveraging the Public Finance Management
Act (PFMA) to unlock new opportunities that drive innovation, investment, and
faster delivery of national digital infrastructure projects.
He
noted that strategic cooperation between government and development finance
institutions is critical to expanding affordable, reliable, and secure
connectivity across South Africa, in line with the department’s mandate to
accelerate digital transformation and economic growth.
