Namibia
and Angola are strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of space-based
communications through the ANGOSAT-2 project, an initiative aimed at expanding
satellite connectivity and improving access to internet and voice services in
remote areas.
The
collaboration, developed between the Angolan Space Management Office and
Telecom Namibia, focuses on leveraging Angola’s ANGOSAT-2 satellite to deliver
reliable communication services in regions where terrestrial infrastructure
remains limited.

During
an interministerial phone call between the two countries, Namibia’s Minister of
Information and Communication Technology, Hon. Emma Theofelus, emphasized that
the partnership represents an important step toward advancing space technology
and digital inclusion in Namibia.
She
noted that enhanced cooperation with Angola will not only expand Namibia’s
communication alternatives but also strengthen the country’s capacity to
integrate space technology into its national development agenda.

The
initiative aligns with Namibia’s broader digital transformation goals and
underscores the growing role of regional partnerships in fostering innovation,
connectivity, and sustainable development across Southern Africa.
