Uganda
has been selected to host the 4th Edition of the Digital Government Africa Summit (DGA)
in 2026, positioning the country as a leading voice in shaping the continent’s
digital transformation agenda.
The
announcement was made at this year’s summit held in Lusaka, Zambia, which was
officially opened by Zambian President H.E. Hakainde Hichilema. The event
brought together representatives from over 30 African governments to discuss
strategies for advancing digital governance and innovation across Africa.

Confirming
the news, Dr. Hatwib Mugasa,
Executive Director of the National
Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U), described
Uganda’s selection as a milestone achievement. “Hosting DGA2026 positions
Uganda at the centre of Africa’s digital discourse,” he said. “It’s an
opportunity to showcase how infrastructure, interoperability, and innovation
are powering inclusive growth.”
The
2026 summit, to be jointly organized by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance and NITA-U, will bring together leaders,
innovators, and policymakers from across the continent to explore emerging
trends, share best practices, and strengthen collaboration in the digital
governance space.

Uganda’s
hosting of DGA2026 reflects the country’s growing reputation as a regional
digital hub and its continued investment in ICT infrastructure and e-government
initiatives aimed at driving socio-economic transformation.
