M-PESA
Africa CEO, Sitoyo Lopokoiyit has participated this year’s 7th FITSPA Uganda
Annual Conference, where he delivered a keynote address on fintech trends and the future
of mobile money in Africa and beyond.
Mr.
Lopokoiyit who joined key fintech leaders in his address explored emerging
global and continental trends such as neobanks, digital currencies, regulation, and
agentic commerce,
emphasizing the opportunities they present for businesses, customers, and
fintech innovators. He also discussed the growing adoption of digital
currencies, the expanding role of neobanks, and the transformative potential of
agentic commerce in driving digital inclusion and economic growth.

Lopokoiyit
further highlighted M-PESA Africa’s role in digitising government services, citing successful initiatives such
as the fertiliser e-subsidy programmes in Kenya and Mozambique, which have enhanced transparency
and access for farmers.
He
later participated in the Founders Panel alongside Sylvia Mulinge, CEO of
MTN Uganda, and
Richard
Yego, CEO of MTN MoMo Uganda, moderated by Peter Kawumi, Managing Director of
Interswitch East Africa.
In
his remarks, Lopokoiyit underscored the importance of purpose-driven
leadership, innovation, and partnerships in navigating disruption and sustaining growth in
Africa’s fintech landscape. He encouraged African fintech players to leverage
globalisation and digital transformation to create scalable, sustainable
solutions that improve lives across the continent.
