Kenya’s
Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo, has reaffirmed the country’s
commitment to advancing digital transformation and global partnerships during
his address at the Romania–Kenya IT & Cybersecurity Business Forum in Bucharest. The event, held
alongside the Bucharest Cybersecurity Conference 2025, brought together leaders from
government, industry, and technology sectors to explore cooperation in
cybersecurity, innovation, and digital trade.
Speaking
at the forum, Mr. Kabogo mentioned Kenya’s bold digital transformation agenda
under the Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy initiative, which is driving nationwide
connectivity across homes, schools, and enterprises. He noted that the
initiative is positioning Kenya as a regional leader in innovation,
e-government, and digital commerce.

“As
we advance towards a paperless government by 2030, we continue to attract
investments in data centres, cloud services, and emerging technologies such as
artificial intelligence, fintech, and cybersecurity,” Mr. Kabogo said.
He
emphasized that Romania represents a strategic partner for Kenya, citing its global
reputation for excellence in software engineering, cybersecurity, and digital
innovation. Mr. Kabogo extended an invitation to Romanian companies to invest,
co-innovate, and partner with Kenya in building technologies that create jobs,
enhance digital resilience, and strengthen Africa–Europe cooperation.
“Together,
we can build trusted digital economies that open new frontiers of opportunity
for our people,” he
added.
The
forum marks another step in Kenya’s ongoing efforts to deepen international
collaboration and attract investment into its growing digital ecosystem,
reinforcing its vision of becoming a continental technology hub by 2030.
