The 1st Forum of Scientific and Technological Support to the
Regional Centres of Excellence Related to the Green Transition
is currently underway, serving as a key platform for collaboration between
African and European stakeholders in science, technology, and innovation.
The
forum focuses on strengthening partnerships, enhancing knowledge sharing, and
deepening stakeholder engagement to accelerate Africa’s green transition.
Representatives from the African Union’s Department
of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI) stressed
the need to “bridge the gap between knowledge and
governance,” stressing that “scientific evidence must inform policy, data
must guide investment, and innovation must shape legislation.”

In her
remarks, Dora Siliya
underscored the importance of engaging the African private sector to support
relevant research and innovation, while Abednico Maphuru
called for greater involvement of local communities to integrate indigenous
knowledge and close the continent’s “knowledge gap.”
The
forum also celebrated the efforts of the institutions implementing the ARCX Programme, which aims to build
regional scientific capacity and advance sustainable development across Africa.
