The
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Communications Regulatory
Authority (BOCRA), Mr. Murphy Setshwane, has officially opened the ICT Policy
and Regulation Institutional Strengthening (iPRIS) 2025B Africa Follow-Up Phase
in Gaborone.
In
his welcome remarks, Mr. Setshwane underscored Africa’s shared mission to
accelerate digital transformation through modernized policies and harmonized
regulatory frameworks aligned with the African Union’s Digital Transformation
Strategy (2020–2030).

He
further highlighted Botswana’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), which
focuses on digitizing public services and fostering a technology-driven future
that supports innovation, inclusion, and economic growth.
Mr.
Setshwane expressed appreciation to international partners and African
delegates participating in the event for their continued collaboration in
shaping a connected, inclusive, and empowered digital Africa.
The
iPRIS 2025B Africa Follow-Up Phase serves as a platform for ICT policymakers,
regulators, and development partners to assess progress and share best
practices aimed at strengthening institutional capacity across the continent’s
digital landscape.
