The UK Space Agency and
Axiom Space have extended their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reinforcing
a key public-private partnership aimed at enabling a UK-led or all-UK mission
to the International Space Station (ISS) or future commercial orbital platforms.
The renewed agreement
strengthens cooperation between government and industry, with Axiom Space
serving as coordinator to facilitate access across multiple operators and
providers. This collaboration is expected to support UK astronauts as well as
research payloads, advancing the country’s ambitions in human spaceflight and
commercial space activity.

Under the extended MoU, both
parties will continue working on mission planning, funding, and execution,
while also exploring opportunities to engage corporate sponsors. The
partnership is designed to foster a sustainable framework that supports
scientific research, technology development, and the growing commercialization
of space.
According to the UK
Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, the extended agreement
underscores the UK’s commitment to securing a long-term role in the global
space economy, while building new opportunities for its astronaut corps and
wider research community.
