The South African National
Space Agency (SANSA) and Angola’s National Space Program Management Office
(GGPEN) have signed an Implementation Plan under their existing Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU), marking a significant step forward in advancing Africa’s
leadership in the global space sector.
The agreement was formalized
on the sidelines of the just ended International Astronautical Federation’s
congress in Sydney, and outlines a roadmap for cooperation in key areas,
including Earth observation and satellite applications, space situational
awareness, policy and regulatory harmonization, knowledge and technology
transfer, industry and startup support, as well as infrastructure sharing and
emerging space systems.

According to SANSA Chief
Executive Officer, Humbulani Mudau, the signing reaffirms the agencies’ shared
commitment to driving innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth in the
African space industry.
The partnership between
SANSA and GGPEN is expected to enhance Africa’s collective capabilities in
space science and technology while positioning the continent as a stronger
player in the global space economy.
