The Kingdom of Eswatini is
exploring new opportunities to accelerate its digital transformation through a
potential partnership with Google Cloud. On the sidelines of the 80th United
Nations General Assembly (UNGA80), the Minister of ICT, Savannah Maziya, met
with Karan Bhatia, Google Cloud’s Vice President of Government Affairs and
Public Policy.
The high-level discussions
focused on leveraging frontier technologies to strengthen Eswatini’s digital
economy and position the country at the forefront of Africa’s digital
transformation.
Key areas of collaboration
under consideration include the development of a National Digital Addressing
System, Public Key Infrastructure, and e-government solutions aimed at
modernizing public services. Discussions also covered the adoption of Google Workspace
for the public sector to improve efficiency, security, transparency, and
accessibility for citizens.

Other priorities highlighted
were the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning for
smarter governance, cloud computing and cybersecurity for national resilience,
and the deployment of emerging technologies and e-learning tools to build
digital skills across Eswatini.
Minister Maziya noted that
partnering with a global technology leader such as Google Cloud presents a
transformative opportunity for Eswatini’s future. The engagement marks a
significant step in advancing the Kingdom’s ambition to harness digital innovation
for economic growth, improved governance, and sustainable development.
