The Director General for Angola’s
Space Program (GGPEN), Dr. Zolana João, speaking at the IAF Global Space Leaders Summit has called
for a more inclusive global space governance model and reaffirmed Angola’s
commitment as the 33rd signatory of the Artemis Accords.

His intervention came as
Angola made history with its first-ever national booth at the 76th
International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025), where it unveiled GEDADE, a
newspace project developed in partnership with Africell Group that combines
earth observation with high-throughput satellite communications.
The Angolan pavilion drew
the attention of key international leaders, including representatives from the
United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, the Australian Space Agency, the
German Aerospace Center (DLR), and the South African National Space Agency
(SANSA).

IAC 2025 also advanced
Angola’s bilateral and multilateral collaborations with Brazil’s AEB, Japan’s
ArkEdge Space, the European Space Agency (ESA), and SANSA, with whom Angola
signed an implementation plan for their memorandum of understanding.
“This IAC showed that Angola
is not only participating, but also helping shape the dialogue on space
diplomacy, governance, and leadership,” Dr. Joao said.
