The Responsible AI Lab
(RAIL) has reiterated its commitment to talent development and the promotion of
women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) as a central
part of its mission to build a future-ready workforce for Ghana and Africa.
At the 2025 WiSTEM Ghana
Girls’ Camp, Prof. Eric Tutu Tchao, AI in Agricultural Innovations and Food
Security Theme Lead, delivered remarks on behalf of RAIL’s Principal
Investigator, Prof. Jerry John Kponyo. He highlighted the lab’s strategy to
empower women in STEM by combining cutting-edge research with practical
initiatives that nurture skilled human capital.

“Talent development is at
the heart of our mission,” Prof. Tchao said. “Our work extends beyond research
to actively building a foundation of skilled human capital, with a dedicated
focus on ensuring women are at the forefront of technology and innovation in
Africa.”
As part of its support for
the camp, RAIL provided participants with souvenirs, including notepads, pens
and files, underscoring its hands-on role in encouraging young women to pursue
STEM education and careers.
Prof. Tchao further
emphasized RAIL’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with WiSTEM Ghana
and similar initiatives, noting that such collaborations are crucial for
producing the innovators and leaders who will shape Africa’s technological and
economic future.
