Senegal’s Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital, Alioune Sall has joined the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) for the official launch of the Interoperable Instant Payment Platform (PI-SPI).

The platform enables instant money transfers, available 24/7, across all financial institutions within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).

Officials say the system is a cornerstone of the region’s New Deal Technologique, forming part of the broader effort to strengthen Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). PI-SPI is expected to serve as the technical foundation for e-payments, supporting a modern, transparent, and efficient administration.

In Senegal, the Ministry of Digital Affairs is working alongside the Public Treasury to ensure smooth integration between PI-SPI and Sen Trésor, the national treasury system.

This integration is aimed at creating a unified digital payment infrastructure to streamline government financial operations and improve public service delivery.
