Morocco has launched the
D4SD Morocco Hub, a strategic initiative aimed at accelerating digital
transformation across Africa and the Arab region.
The announcement was made
under the governance of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative
Reform, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The launch ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations
General Assembly in New York.
The event was attended by
Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, Minister Delegate in charge of Digital
Transition and Administration Reform Amal El Fallah-Seghrouchni, and Morocco’s
Permanent Representative to the United Nations Omar Hilale, alongside senior UN
officials, private sector leaders, and civil society partners.
The Ministry said the
initiative is in line with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,
may God assist him, and reinforces Morocco’s role as a regional and continental
driver of global and sustainable digital transformation.
The D4SD Morocco Hub also
underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to South-South cooperation in the digital
sector. It aligns with the United Nations Secretary-General’s action plan for
digital cooperation, UNDP’s global digitalization strategy, and the digital
agendas of both the African Union and the League of Arab States.
