Ethiopia and China have
pledged to strengthen their cooperation in the digital and technology sectors
following a high-level bilateral consultation forum held in Addis Ababa.
The meeting, themed “Digital
and Immersive Technology Industry Cooperation: Strengthening Practicality in
the Digital Industry, Fostering Sustainable Development through Digital
Innovation,” brought together Ethiopia’s Ministry of Innovation and
Technology and China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Ethiopia’s Minister of
Innovation and Technology, Dr. Bete Mola, who chaired the forum, said the
comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries had reached a
high level and was now entering a critical phase. He described the partnership
as a reflection of deep political trust and a shared vision, adding that it
would pave the way for Ethiopia and China to build “a more integrated shared
future community in this new era.”
China’s Minister of Industry
and Information Technology, Li Lecheng, affirmed his country’s commitment to
deepening collaboration with Ethiopia, particularly in advancing bilateral
economic development through technology.

Ethiopia has made digital
transformation a key pillar of its national agenda, with initiatives spanning
infrastructure expansion, e-government services, digital skills training, and
the establishment of innovation centers.
During the forum, both
countries signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in the
technology sector. The agreement was signed by Dr. Mola and Minister Li.
