Ethiopia promotes AI education through partnerships between AI Institute and Technical Training body

The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute (EAII) and the FDRE Technical and Vocational Training Institute (FTVTI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on capacity building, training, and technical support in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The agreement was signed by EAII Director General Dr. Worku Gachena and FTVTI Director General Dr. Biruk Kedir.
During the
signing ceremony, Dr. Worku highlighted that this partnership marks the
institute’s first initiative to support a first-degree program in AI
technology. He reaffirmed EAII’s commitment to translating the agreement into
tangible outcomes that advance national expertise in the field.
Dr. Biruk
emphasized that the collaboration would strengthen technical and vocational
education by integrating AI into training programs, helping to meet the growing
human capital needs of the AI, robotics, and intelligent manufacturing sectors.
The MoU
represents a significant step in building Ethiopia’s domestic capabilities in
emerging technologies.
