The ICT
Association of Zambia (ICTAZ) has officially launched its 2025-2027 Strategic
Plan at the Mulungushi Conference Centre. The event was officiated by the Minister of Technology and Science, Felix
Chipota Mutati, who emphasized the critical role of ICT professionals in
advancing Zambia's digital economy.
Minister Mutati
highlighted the sector's substantial economic contributions, noting that mobile
money transactions reached K486 billion last year. He reaffirmed the
government's commitment to expanding digital infrastructure, enhancing
connectivity, and updating key legislation to support growth. Key initiatives
include ensuring nationwide 4G coverage and upgrading 1,500 towers to 5G
technology.
ICTAZ President,
Dr. Clement Sinyangwe noted the association's achievements, including eight
prestigious awards at recent African exhibitions, and called for enhanced
financial growth and value for members to foster innovation and industry
protection.
The strategic
plan aims to advance Zambia's digital agenda, promote youth innovation, and
safeguard the digital environment.
