The African Union Space
Agency (AfSA) has hosted a high-level delegation from the Egyptian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, led by Ambassador Dr. Mohammed Gad, during a courtesy visit to
AfSA President H.E. Dr. Tidiane Ouattara.
The meeting focused on ways
to support the effective operationalization of AfSA with the assistance of the
Egyptian Government, marking a significant step in deepening collaboration to
advance Africa’s collective space agenda.

The Egyptian delegation
included Ambassador Dr. Mohammed Gad, Assistant Foreign Minister and Head of
the African Organizations & Communities Department; Ambassador Khaled
El-Shazly, Deputy Director for AU Affairs; Ambassador Salwa El-Mowafy, Deputy Director
for Economic Communities & African International Partnerships; and Third
Secretary Mohammed Fayez of the African Organizations & Communities
Department.
During the discussions, both
parties stressed the importance of leveraging partnerships to build a strong
and sustainable African space ecosystem. Egypt, which hosts the African Space
Weather Regional Centre and has been instrumental in advancing space
initiatives on the continent, reiterated its commitment to supporting AfSA in
its mission.

AfSA’s President, Dr.
Tidiane Ouattara expressed appreciation for Egypt’s continued support, noting
that such collaborations are vital for ensuring that Africa fully harnesses the
potential of space science, technology, and innovation to drive socio-economic
development.
