The discussions centered on operationalizing Kenya's proposed $250 million vaccine manufacturing facility at Konza Technopolis, a flagship project under the country's Digital Economy Blueprint. Dr. Jerome Kim, leading the IVI delegation, engaged Kenyan officials on integrating artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to strengthen biomedical research capabilities and healthcare infrastructure resilience.

Mr. Kabogo noted the strategic alignment between Kenya's digital transformation agenda and its healthcare ambitions. "This partnership positions Kenya not just as a consumer but as an innovator in vaccine development, powered by cutting-edge technologies," he stated. The collaboration will leverage Kenya's membership in the IVI Global Council to influence global vaccine policies while safeguarding health data through robust digital frameworks.

Key focus areas include knowledge transfer through the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST), local capacity building in biomanufacturing, and establishing Konza Technopolis as a continental leader in pharmaceutical innovation. The proposed facility aims to reduce Africa's dependence on imported vaccines while creating high-value jobs in biotechnology and digital health sectors.

Health CS Duale, highlighted the partnership's potential to address persistent healthcare challenges. "Combining South Korea's technical expertise with Kenya's regional leadership creates a powerful synergy for pandemic preparedness and health security," he stated. The collaboration represents a model for South-South cooperation in science and technology, aligning with Kenya's Vision 2030 industrialization goals.
