ICT Minister engages Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN)

Namibia's Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has reaffirmed its commitment to robust digital sector oversight following Minister Emma Theofelus' quarterly engagement with the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) board. The meeting, focused on critical aspects of Namibia's digital transformation including cybersecurity preparedness and universal service delivery. 

During the comprehensive briefing, CRAN leadership presented detailed updates on the authority's operational performance, highlighting progress in implementing Namibia's cybersecurity framework through the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team. Discussions also centered on the Universal Service Fund's role in expanding connectivity to underserved communities across the nation's vast terrain. 

The Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining strong governance structures as Namibia accelerates its digital agenda. "CRAN's commitment to accountability and strategic oversight remains vital as we navigate complex technological transformations," stated the Minister following the productive session. 

The board members reiterated their dedication to transparent operations and effective regulation that balances industry growth with consumer protection. This quarterly review mechanism demonstrates Namibia's proactive approach to digital governance, ensuring continuous alignment between policy objectives and regulatory implementation. 

This latest dialogue forms part of Namibia's broader strategy to maintain regulatory excellence while adapting to rapid technological changes in the telecommunications sector.
