Egypt continues to make strategic investments in artificial intelligence education through the successful conclusion of the third round of its "AI Empower Egypt" program. The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in partnership with Dell Technologies, has now trained 1,620 university students since its inception while generating 300 practical AI solutions addressing national development priorities.

At the closing ceremony held at Creativa Innovation Hub in Giza, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology,  Amr Talaat noted Egypt's commitment to positioning youth at the forefront of the country's digital transformation. The latest cohort saw 676 students from eight leading universities receive specialized AI training before developing 70 technological projects across five critical sectors - smart agriculture, traffic management, government services, healthcare, and economic systems.

The program incorporated a competitive hackathon component focused specifically on tourism solutions, reflecting Egypt's strategic approach to linking technological innovation with key economic sectors. Sixty-three students formed thirteen teams to create AI-powered tools for enhancing the nation's vital tourism industry, with Cairo University's Myocardium Laviosa team emerging as overall winner.

Mr. Talaat stressed how such initiatives align with broader national efforts to build Egypt's digital economy, pointing to the newly launched Digitopia hackathon series offering EGP 10 million in prizes as further evidence of this commitment. The government's multi-pronged strategy focuses on cultivating technical skills while encouraging practical applications of emerging technologies.

Dell Technologies' regional leadership emphasized their substantial R&D investments in AI, with Senior Vice President, Mohammed Amin noting the company allocates approximately $8 billion annually toward innovation, 70% of which targets artificial intelligence development. This corporate-academic partnership model demonstrates how Egypt is leveraging international expertise to accelerate domestic capability building.

With enrollment in computer science and AI programs exceeding 115,000 students across 92 faculties last year a number projected to grow further, Egypt is systematically developing the human capital required to compete in the global digital economy. The AI Empower Egypt initiative represents a crucial component of this national upskilling strategy, creating pipelines between education institutions and the technology sector while solving real-world challenges through innovation.
