A heartwarming
story of gratitude unfolded at the University of Ghana when former student
Robin J. Dunn returned to his roots with a generous $12,000 donation to
establish a modern science laboratory at the University Basic School in Legon.
The meaningful contribution comes seven decades after Dunn first walked through
the school's doors as part of its inaugural class.
During an
emotional meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, the
alumnus reflected on his formative years at the institution. "Ghana
looked after me, nurtured me and taught me to read," Dunn shared,
recalling how he began his education at what was then called the Demonstration
School before continuing his studies in Scotland. His recent visit as Guest of
Honour at the school's 63rd Speech and Prize-Giving Day ceremony inspired this
philanthropic gesture.

Professor Vera
Fiador, Board Chair of the University Basic School, led the delegation that
facilitated this act of giving. The donation will directly support STEM
education for current students by providing them with improved scientific
learning facilities.
Vice-Chancellor
Amfo praised Dunn's contribution as both a powerful legacy and an inspiring
example of alumni engagement. "This generous act demonstrates how
former students can meaningfully reconnect with their educational
foundations," she remarked. The donation arrives as the University
Basic School seeks to enhance its science education infrastructure to meet
21st-century learning demands.

Dunn's gift
represents more than financial support it embodies the enduring connection
between students and the institutions that shape their lives. His journey from
Legon classrooms to international success, and now back to give back, completes
a meaningful circle that university officials hope will encourage other alumni
to support educational development. The new science laboratory will stand as a
testament to the lifelong bonds formed through quality basic education.
