Nigeria has launched the Build-A-Thon
Holiday Camp, an immersive initiative targeting young minds aged 10 to 18.
Spearheaded by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and
Digital Economy, Dr. 'Bosun Tijani, the camp is underway in Abuja, Abeokuta,
and Kano igniting passion, curiosity, and innovation across the nation.

With the world rapidly
shifting towards digitally-driven economies, investing in physical digital
infrastructure alone is no longer sufficient. It must be matched with a
parallel investment in human capacity especially among the youth. The
Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp is Nigeria’s proactive answer to this call, bridging
the skills gap and nurturing a new generation of digital natives who will not
only consume technology but create it.
Throughout the camp,
participants are introduced to a spectrum of modern tech disciplines including coding,
embedded systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT). These practical and
hands-on sessions are designed to stimulate creativity, critical thinking, and
problem-solving—skills that will prove vital in tomorrow’s workforce and
entrepreneurial landscape.
Beyond technical training,
the program instills a mindset of innovation and resilience. As young
participants work on projects, share ideas, and collaborate, they are also
building confidence and discovering how technology can be used to address
real-world challenges in their communities.

Dr. Tijani, in sharing his
vision, emphasized: “As we invest in digital infrastructure, we must equip
our youth to build on it — for a future that benefits us all.”
The excitement around the
Build-A-Thon reflects more than just a camp; it marks the beginning of a
cultural shift. One where Nigerian youth, regardless of geography or
background, are empowered to take charge of their digital destinies.
As laptops hum, codes run,
and prototypes emerge from young hands, one thing is clear: the future is being
built—one curious mind at a time.
