MTN Group has
bolstered its executive leadership with the appointment of seasoned
communications professional Xolisa Vapi to the dual role of Executive for Group
and South African External Communications. Effective 1 August 2025, Vapi will
oversee external communications strategy for both MTN's pan-African operations
and its South African business unit.
The
telecommunications giant announced the strategic appointment as part of ongoing
efforts to enhance its corporate reputation and stakeholder engagement across
multiple markets. Vapi brings to the role a quarter-century of experience in
media relations, strategic communications, and stakeholder management, along
with institutional knowledge of MTN's operations and corporate vision.
MTN's decision
to combine these critical communications functions under Vapi's leadership
reflects the company's commitment to maintaining consistent messaging and
strengthening its brand presence across Africa's competitive telecommunications
landscape. His extensive background positions him to navigate the complex media
environment surrounding one of Africa's largest mobile network operators.
The appointment
comes at a pivotal time as MTN continues to execute its Ambition 2025 strategy,
which focuses on digital transformation and creating shared value across its
markets. Vapi's leadership is expected to play a key role in shaping the
narrative around MTN's technological innovations, regulatory engagements, and
corporate citizenship initiatives.
