MTN Uganda has
inaugurated a specialized ICT laboratory at Mvara Secondary School, designed to
empower students with special needs through accessible technology. The
facility, equipped with adaptive tools including JAWS screen readers, Bluetooth
speakers, and 10 computer workstations, will serve over 100 learners in
Northern Uganda.

The telecom
provider's Northern Regional Commercial Head, Philip Odoi noted the
transformative potential of the initiative during the commissioning ceremony. "This
laboratory represents more than equipment – it's a gateway to equal educational
opportunities," he stated. The installation includes complimentary
high-speed internet connectivity for twelve months to ensure uninterrupted
access.
Local education
officials welcomed the intervention as a milestone for inclusive learning.
Annet Dilea, Special Needs Education Officer, described the facility as "an
instrument of dignity," while City Education Officer, Asiku Geoffrey
noted its role in affirming the rights of all children to participate in
Uganda's digital transformation.

Developed in
collaboration with Sense International Uganda and Arua education authorities,
the project reflects MTN's commitment to bridging the digital divide for
marginalized learners. The laboratory's adaptive technologies are specifically
configured to support students with visual, auditory, and physical impairments,
enabling full participation in digital literacy programs.
This initiative
expands MTN Uganda's digital inclusion efforts, complementing existing
infrastructure investments and skills development programs across the country.
