The Gabonese
government has delivered critical technology equipment to healthcare facilities,
marking Phase 2 implementation of the national Health Information System
(HIS).
The ceremony
united three key institutions driving Gabon's e-health agenda: the Ministry of
Digital Economy (MENDI), Ministry of Health, and the National Digital
Infrastructure Agency (ANINF). Minister of Digital Economy Mark Alexandre
Doumba presided over the event alongside Health Minister Professor Adrien
Mougougou and ANINF Director General Alberto Wenceslas Mounguengui
Moudoki.

"This
equipment deployment represents more than technological upgrades – it's about
transforming healthcare delivery nationwide," stated Minister Doumba. The initiative provides health facilities
with modern computing infrastructure to support digitized patient records, data
analytics, and coordinated care systems.
Phase 2 of the
HIS project focuses on building technical capacity at healthcare provider
level, enabling secure data sharing and real-time health information
management. The upgraded system promises to enhance medical efficiency, reduce
errors, and improve health outcomes through integrated digital solutions.

Health Minister,
Mougougou emphasized the human impact: "Digital tools will help our
medical staff deliver faster, more accurate diagnoses and treatments while
giving policymakers reliable data for health planning." The equipment
handover follows Gabon's 2023 launch of its national digital health strategy,
which aligns with WHO recommendations for member states' digital health
transformation.
