Algeria and
Italy have elevated their bilateral cooperation in technology and digital
transformation through high-level agreements signed during President
Abdelmadjid Tebboune's official visit to Rome. The discussions, attended by
Algerian Minister of Post and Telecommunications Sid Ali Zerrouki, marked a new
phase in the countries' longstanding partnership.

The visit
featured pivotal meetings between President Tebboune, Italian President Sergio
Mattarella, and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, reaffirming both nations'
commitment to expanding cooperation across strategic sectors. A key outcome was
the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Minister Zerrouki and
Italian Minister of Enterprises and Industry Adolfo Urso, establishing a
framework for collaboration in innovation, digital transformation, and smart
industry development.
"This
agreement creates new pathways for knowledge exchange, joint investments, and
technological innovation that will benefit both our nations," stated Minister Zerrouki following the signing ceremony. The MoU
reflects Algeria's push to accelerate its digital economy while leveraging
Italy's expertise in industrial digitalization and smart technologies.

The partnership
aligns with Algeria's national digital transformation strategy, which
prioritizes infrastructure modernization, innovation ecosystems, and digital
skills development. For Italy, the agreement opens opportunities to collaborate
with North Africa's largest country in implementing cutting-edge solutions for
smart cities, e-government, and Industry 4.0 applications.
The Rome
meetings also explored potential cooperation in telecommunications
infrastructure, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies areas of mutual
interest as both countries work to strengthen their positions in the
Mediterranean digital economy.
