AI's transformative potential for critical sectors including agriculture,

EAII Director
General, Dr. Worku Gachena delivered Ethiopia's official statement, calling for
strengthened international cooperation to ensure AI benefits all nations
equally. "AI must bridge divides, not deepen them," Dr.
Gachena asserted, highlighting the need for technology transfer, infrastructure
sharing, and capacity building to enable Global South countries to participate
fully in the AI revolution.
The conference,
attended by over 1,000 government leaders, UN representatives, tech executives,
and researchers, saw the release of a landmark Action Plan for Global AI
Governance. Ethiopia's participation signals its growing engagement with
international AI policy discussions as it develops its own national
strategy.
Dr. Gachena
specifically endorsed proposals for a global AI cooperation platform that
respects national sovereignty and cultural contexts while promoting open
knowledge exchange. His remarks reflected Ethiopia's balanced approach –
embracing AI's economic opportunities while safeguarding societal values and
digital sovereignty.
