MTN South Sudan, in collaboration with the Universal Service and Access Fund (USAF), has officially launched a new network site in Abuyong, bringing mobile connectivity to a previously underserved rural community.

For years, residents of Abuyong faced immense challenges due to the absence of reliable mobile services, limiting communication, education, and economic opportunities. The new site now enables families, students, and local entrepreneurs to access voice and data services, unlocking participation in the digital economy.

"This is more than infrastructure—it's about transforming lives," said MTN South Sudan CEO Mapula Bodibe. "Our partnership with USAF ensures that even the most remote communities are no longer left behind."

The expansion aligns with MTN’s commitment under its renewed 15-year license to extend network coverage to 90% of South Sudan’s population. The Abuyong site represents the latest milestone in this nationwide effort, reinforcing MTN’s dedication to digital inclusion and sustainable development.

As South Sudan advances toward digital transformation, initiatives like this highlight the critical role of public-private partnerships in ensuring equitable access to connectivity, fostering economic growth, and empowering communities. MTN South Sudan continues to invest in infrastructure that drives progress and bridges the digital gap for all citizens.
