Officials from the South African government have concluded a high-level talk with global technology leader HONOR at its headquarters. The closed-door meeting marked a significant step in bilateral technology cooperation between South Africa and China.

Led by South Africa's Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, the delegation comprised key digital governance leaders including the Director General of the Department of Communications, ICASA executives, SITA's Managing Director, the Presidential Digital Services Head, and SABC's Chief Operations Officer. Their presence underscored the strategic importance South Africa places on technological partnerships to drive national connectivity and innovation.

HONOR's leadership, including Group CEO James Li and Honor South Africa CEO, engaged the delegation on concrete collaboration frameworks. The discussions yielded actionable commitments to accelerate South Africa's digital infrastructure development, with particular focus on bridging connectivity gaps and fostering local innovation ecosystems.

"This engagement transcends corporate partnership – it represents a meeting of visions between South Africa's digital architects and global technology pioneers," said Slindokuhle Mbuyisa, HONOR's Public Affairs and Government Relations Manager, who facilitated the high-level exchange. The talks explored technology transfer mechanisms, skills development programs, and infrastructure solutions tailored to South Africa's unique socioeconomic landscape.

The Shenzhen meeting builds on growing Africa-China technology cooperation, positioning South Africa to leverage HONOR's expertise in telecommunications hardware, smart devices, and enterprise solutions. With South Africa actively pursuing its Digital Economy Masterplan, such strategic alliances are expected to play a crucial role in realizing the nation's ambition to become Africa's digital gateway.
