The National
Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) and the International Information System
Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) have signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on cybersecurity capacity-building
initiatives. The signing ceremony which was graced by the presence of the Minister
Paula Ingabire of the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, underscoring the
government’s commitment to advancing cybersecurity expertise in the
country.
The partnership
between NCSA and ISC2 marks a pivotal moment in Rwanda’s efforts to develop a
skilled cybersecurity workforce capable of addressing evolving digital threats.
ISC2, a globally recognized leader in cybersecurity certifications and
training, will work closely with NCSA to provide professional development
programs, certification opportunities, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. This
collaboration aims to equip Rwandan professionals with the necessary skills to
safeguard critical infrastructure, businesses, and individuals from cyber
risks.
Minister Paula
Ingabire stressed the importance of such partnerships in achieving Rwanda’s
digital transformation goals. She highlighted the need for continuous
investment in cybersecurity education and training to ensure a secure and
resilient digital ecosystem. The minister also commended NCSA for its proactive
approach in fostering international collaborations that align with the
country’s vision of becoming a regional leader in cybersecurity.
The MoU
outlines key areas of cooperation, including the development of cybersecurity
training programs, certification pathways, and awareness campaigns to promote
best practices among public and private sector stakeholders. By leveraging
ISC2’s global expertise and NCSA’s local insights, the partnership is expected
to significantly enhance Rwanda’s cybersecurity capabilities and contribute to
a safer digital environment for all citizens.
