The discussions focused on deepening bilateral collaboration in digital transformation, including finalizing a Kenya-South Africa Digital Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Mr. Kabogo congratulated South Africa on assuming the chairmanship of the WSIS+20 summit, emphasizing the importance of African nations working together to shape the continent’s digital future. The leaders explored partnerships in digital public identity systems, artificial intelligence (AI) governance, and Kenya’s participation in the G20 Digital Economy Working Group.

“Collaboration between Kenya and South Africa is crucial for advancing Africa’s digital agenda,” said Kabogo, who was accompanied by Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Steve Isaboke and Tech Envoy Ambassador Philip Thigo. The meeting also highlighted Kenya’s AI Taskforce initiatives and opportunities for joint innovation in emerging technologies.

The discussions align with Kenya’s Digital Economy Blueprint, which prioritizes cross-border digital infrastructure and harmonized policies to enhance regional connectivity.
