The Federal
Government through the National Information Technology Development Agency
(NITDA) has partnered with MTN Nigeria to launch a cutting-edge Cloud Service
and Tier III Data Centre in Lagos. The facility, inaugurated by key
stakeholders including the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation
and Digital Economy Dr. Bosun Tijani and NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa,
represents a strategic leap in Nigeria's digital infrastructure
development.

DG Inuwa hailed
the project as a transformative milestone that aligns with President Bola Ahmed
Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on economic
diversification through digitization, industrialization, and innovation.
"This facility strengthens our digital sovereignty while accelerating
cloud adoption and AI development in line with our 'Nigeria First'
policy," Inuwa stated during the ceremony.
The Tier III
certified data centre, one of Africa's most advanced provides enterprise-grade
cloud services with 99.982% uptime, positioning Nigeria as a regional hub for
secure data storage and processing. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu,
represented by SSG Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, emphasized the facility's role in
supporting the state's smart city ambitions and digital job creation.

Karl Toriola noted the $100 million investment demonstrates the telecom giant's
commitment to Nigeria's digital transformation, offering scalable solutions for
businesses, government agencies, and startups. The launch comes as Nigeria implements
its National Cloud Computing Policy to reduce dependence on foreign data
infrastructure.

With its robust
security features and energy-efficient design, the data centre is expected to
drive financial inclusion, e-government services, and homegrown tech innovation
while meeting the growing demand for local data hosting solutions across West
Africa.
