Senegal has
been elected President of the Board of Directors of the Pan African Postal
Union (PAPU) during the 43rd ordinary session held in Arusha, Tanzania. This
prestigious appointment highlights Senegal’s growing influence in the African
postal sector and reflects the nation’s strong commitment to modernizing postal
services as a key driver of economic transformation, social inclusion, and
territorial connectivity.

The election also
underscores Senegal’s strategic vision, aligned with its National Development
Strategy for 2050 (SND 2050), which emphasizes the role of postal services in
fostering digital transformation, e-commerce growth, and inclusive logistics.
Under the leadership of His Excellency President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Senegal
has prioritized the modernization and revitalization of its postal sector,
positioning itself as a key player in shaping the future of postal services
across Africa.
As President of
the PAPU Board of Directors, Senegal will champion collaboration among member
states to address shared challenges, including digitalization, cross-border
logistics, and universal postal access. The country’s leadership will focus on
fostering solidarity, enhancing South-South cooperation, and promoting
innovative solutions to build a resilient and forward-looking African postal
network.

This new role
presents an opportunity for Senegal to drive continental efforts in redefining
the post’s role in Africa’s evolving digital economy. By leveraging its
expertise and commitment to innovation, Senegal aims to strengthen regional

The Pan African
