The Ministry of
Communication, Technology and Innovation, alongside UNICEF Innovation Sierra
Leone, Elcome, and MultiTech, has officially inaugurated a cutting-edge Educube
Hub at Lorenzo Gorvie Memorial Secondary School in Waterloo. The school earned
this distinction after winning the Educube Debate Competition during the 2025
Sierra Leone Innovates: Digital Government Summit.

The newly
unveiled Educube Hub is designed as a dynamic space for learning, creativity,
and technological exploration. Equipped with modern tools and resources, the
hub will empower students to develop critical digital skills and engage in
innovative projects. Lorenzo Gorvie Memorial Secondary School, which educates
more than 500 students across SSS1 and SSS2, offers specialized streams in
Economics and Entrepreneurship, Social and Cultural Studies, and Science and
Technology. The introduction of this facility ensures that learners have a
dedicated environment to enhance their education through hands-on experience
and practical application of knowledge.

The handover
ceremony was attended by community leaders, school administrators, and
enthusiastic students, all of whom celebrated this milestone in advancing
digital literacy. The event also featured the Careers in STEM School Tour, an
interactive session aimed at exposing students to real-world opportunities in
science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By bridging classroom
lessons with future career prospects, the initiative seeks to inspire the next
generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
This
achievement reflects the collective effort of partners committed to fostering
access, opportunity, and innovation in Sierra Leone’s education sector.
