MTN Uganda strengthens partnership with government to accelerate digital transformation

MTN Uganda's leadership team, led by CEO Sylvia Mulinge, engaged in high-level discussions with key government officials this week. The delegation met with Hon. Joyce Nabosa Ssebugwawo, Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance, and Dr. Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance, to align strategic priorities for the nation's technological advancement. 

The meeting focused on critical areas of collaboration, including the expansion of MTN's flagship ACE digital skilling program, which has been instrumental in equipping Ugandan youth with essential digital competencies. Both parties emphasized the need to scale such initiatives to bridge the digital skills gap and enhance employability in an increasingly technology-driven economy. 

"We are committed to working hand-in-hand with the government to realize Uganda's digital aspirations," stated Sylvia Mulinge during the discussions. "From expanding digital literacy programs to supporting national infrastructure development, MTN stands ready to contribute meaningfully to Uganda's transformation journey." 

The dialogue also explored policy frameworks that could accelerate digital transformation, with particular attention to creating an enabling environment for innovation and investment. Officials examined how public-private partnerships could be leveraged to extend connectivity to underserved communities and develop inclusive digital solutions that address Uganda's unique challenges. 

A significant portion of the discussions centered on aligning MTN's corporate strategy with national development blueprints, including Vision 2040 and the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV). The telecom giant reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government priorities such as e-governance, digital financial inclusion, and smart city development.
