Guinea celebrates young tech champions after global Huawei ICT competition victory

The Prime Minister of Guinea, Mr. Amadou Oury Bah has hosted a special reception to honor three young Guinean talents who achieved global recognition at the prestigious Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025. Abdoulaye Cissé, Ibrahima Sow, and Bienvenu Saoulomou secured second place worldwide in the Network Track category, competing against 179 finalist teams from 48 countries. 

The ceremony, attended by China's Ambassador to Guinea and Huawei Guinea's Director General, celebrated this remarkable achievement in a competition that initially drew over 210,000 participants from 2,000 universities across 100 countries. The Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, and Digital Economy presented the winners, emphasizing how their success elevates Guinea's profile in global technology circles. 

"These young professionals have demonstrated that Guinean talent can compete and excel on the world stage," stated the Minister during the event. The government announced concrete plans to support the winners' professional development, aligning with national strategies to promote youth employment and entrepreneurship in the digital sector. 

Each laureate received a laptop from Huawei as recognition of their achievement while sharing inspiring accounts of their competition journey. Chinese diplomatic and corporate representatives praised the exceptional potential of Guinea's youth and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the country's digital transformation. 

Prime Minister Bah concluded the ceremony by reiterating the government's dedication to identifying, nurturing, and empowering national talents. "Digital technology must become a vehicle for opportunity and development for our youth," he declared, positioning this victory as evidence of Guinea's growing technological capabilities.
