MTN Rwanda joins academia-industry to bridge skills gap

MTN Rwanda has taken decisive steps to align higher education with labor market demands through a high-level dialogue between government, academia, and private sector leaders. The Ministry of Public Service and Labour (MIFOTRA), in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR), hosted the pivotal event marking the launch of the 2024 Graduates' Labour Market Absorption Survey Report.

intensive discussions about transforming Rwanda's skills development ecosystem.
The dialogue centered on creating sustainable partnerships between universities
and industries to ensure graduates possess relevant competencies for the
evolving job market. Public Service Minister, Christine Nkulikiyinka set the
tone by stressing the imperative to institutionalize curriculum-industry
engagement rather than treating it as optional collaboration.
The newly
released survey provides critical insights into graduate employment trends,
serving as a foundation for evidence-based education reforms. Participants
examined how to translate these findings into concrete actions that will
reshape academic programs and vocational training to meet current and future
economic needs.

active participation underscores the telecom leader's commitment to workforce
development initiatives. The company's engagement reflects its strategic role
in preparing Rwandan youth for digital economy opportunities, particularly in
technology-driven sectors.
