South Africa launches digital learning hub at Morutwa Secondary School

The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, in collaboration with Telkom Foundation has inaugurated a state-of-the-art ICT laboratory at Morutwa Secondary School to commemorate World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The newly unveiled facility marks a significant investment in digital education, featuring 40 workstations, 10 laptops, and reliable high-speed internet connectivity. 

Minister Solly Malatsi emphasized the laboratory's role in bridging the digital divide and preparing students for South Africa's evolving technological landscape. The infrastructure will provide both learners and educators with critical digital tools, enhancing computer literacy and supporting curriculum delivery through modern teaching methods. 

This initiative forms part of broader efforts to equip South African youth with future-ready skills, particularly in underserved communities. The laboratory's deployment aligns with national objectives to strengthen digital inclusion and create equal learning opportunities across all schools. 

Telkom Foundation's partnership demonstrates the private sector's commitment to supporting digital transformation in education. The facility at Morutwa Secondary School serves as a model for similar projects aimed at building technological capacity in schools nationwide.
