The National
Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection
Commission (NDPC), Dr. Vincent Olatunji has received a delegation from
Morocco's National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP). The
visit, led by CNDP President Omar Seghrouchni, marks a significant step toward
strengthening bilateral cooperation on data protection and privacy regulations between
the two nations.

During the
meeting, Mr. Seghrouchni expressed appreciation for Olatunji's willingness to
facilitate knowledge sharing and the exchange of regulatory frameworks. He
highlighted the NDPC chief's global influence in the data protection ecosystem
and emphasized the importance of leveraging his expertise for the benefit of
Africa. The Moroccan delegation's visit aligns with CNDP's role as the
Permanent Secretariat of the Network of African Data Protection Authorities
(NADPA-RAPDP).
Commissioner Olatunji
also welcomed the delegation and
commended Mr. Seghrouchni's contributions to the growth of NADPA-RAPDP. He
reiterated Nigeria's commitment to advancing data protection and privacy
standards not only within the country but across the African continent and
globally. The NDPC chief affirmed Nigeria's readiness to collaborate with
Morocco in developing robust data governance frameworks that safeguard
citizens' privacy while fostering digital innovation.
The discussions
explored potential areas of partnership, including capacity building,
regulatory harmonization, and joint initiatives to address emerging data
protection challenges. Both nations recognized the importance of cross-border
cooperation in an increasingly interconnected digital economy.
