The
President of the African Space Agency (AfSA), Dr. Tidiane Ouattara, along with
his deputy paid a courtesy visit to the RASCOM booth at the just-ended NewSpace
Africa Conference and Exhibition in Cairo, Egypt. The high-level delegation was
warmly received by RASCOM’s Director General, Timothy Ashong, in the company of
select RASCOM Board members.

The
encounter marked a moment of renewed commitment to continental collaboration in
the advancement of satellite communication technologies. Dr. Ouattara commended
RASCOM for its instrumental role in galvanizing African expertise and uniting
member states under a common platform to manage Africa’s orbital resources
effectively. He noted that the African Space Agency remains fully supportive of
RASCOM’s mission and praised the efforts of Mr. Ashong in rallying governments
across the continent toward a unified, sovereign, and well-coordinated regional
satellite body.
“The
vision that RASCOM is promoting — one of connectivity, cooperation, and
continental capability, aligns perfectly with AfSA’s mandate. We are proud to
support RASCOM in its efforts to create an ecosystem where African space and
satellite communication infrastructure can thrive,” Dr. Ouattara stated.

Mr.
Ashong, in his brief remarks, expressed deep appreciation to the leadership of
AfSA for its unwavering support and reaffirmed RASCOM’s dedication to its
continental mandate. “It is through partnerships like this that Africa will
take its rightful place in the global satellite communication arena,” he said. “We
are building more than infrastructure — we are building a shared African
future, where no country is left behind when it comes to access, communication,
and connectivity.”

He
further emphasized that RASCOM’s mission is not just technical, but
transformational. “Satellite technology is a bridge — a bridge between urban
and rural, between government and citizen, between today’s challenges and
tomorrow’s opportunities. And RASCOM is proud to lead that charge alongside the
African Space Agency.”
