Egypt has participated in
the First BRICS Quantum Technologies Forum, reinforcing its commitment to
advancing emerging technologies and expanding international cooperation in the
rapidly evolving field of quantum computing.
Represented by the Ministry
of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Egypt joined government
officials, researchers, academics, and technology industry representatives from
BRICS member and partner countries at the forum, which was hosted in Moscow,
Russia.
The event focused on
exploring the role of quantum computing technologies in driving economic growth
and technological innovation across BRICS nations. Discussions also examined
opportunities to strengthen cooperation in quantum science and technology, promote
practical applications of quantum solutions, and establish common technological
and educational standards among participating countries.
Egypt's participation
reflects ongoing efforts by the MCIT to stay abreast of emerging technological
developments and position the country within global conversations on advanced
technologies. The ministry views quantum computing as one of the key technologies
with the potential to support economic growth, scientific advancement, and
social development.
During the forum, Advisor to
the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Technology Talent
Development, Hoda Baraka, presented the main pillars of Egypt's national
quantum computing strategy. The strategy is currently being developed under the
framework of the National Council for Artificial Intelligence, Quantum
Computing, and Emerging Technologies.
Baraka outlined Egypt's
vision for building national capabilities in quantum technologies through
research, talent development, innovation, and international collaboration. The
strategy aims to strengthen the country's readiness to adopt and benefit from
future advancements in quantum computing and related technologies.
The Egyptian delegation also
participated in several high-level sessions that examined the future of quantum
technologies and their potential contributions to sustainable development.
Discussions covered international cooperation frameworks, emerging trends in
quantum computing, and pathways for expanding the adoption of quantum
applications across various sectors.
On the sidelines of the
forum, members of the Egyptian delegation conducted visits to research centers
and specialized quantum technology laboratories in Moscow. The visits provided
an opportunity to review ongoing research activities and explore advanced
applications in quantum computing and quantum communications.
The delegation also engaged
with researchers and specialists to identify opportunities for collaboration,
knowledge exchange, and future partnerships that could support Egypt's efforts
to build expertise and capacity in the field.
