The
Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Matilda Asante-Asiedu, has reiterated
the importance of collaboration and interoperability in shaping Africa’s
digital financial future during the Inclusive FinTech Forum held in Kigali.
Speaking
at the forum, which was convened by the National Bank of Rwanda in partnership
with the Global Finance & Technology Network, Asante-Asiedu noted that the
advancement of inclusive digital finance across the continent will depend on
stronger partnerships among policymakers, regulators, innovators and industry
leaders.

A
key session during the forum focused on Africa’s next-generation Digital Public
Infrastructure (DPI), which was jointly co-hosted by the Bank of Ghana and the
National Bank of Rwanda alongside other central bank leaders. Discussions
during the closed-door meeting examined ways to strengthen cross-border payment
systems, improve interoperability among digital financial platforms and ensure
that Africa’s digital infrastructure remains inclusive, secure and scalable.
According
to the Bank of Ghana deputy governor, such engagements are critical in building
momentum toward deeper cooperation in digital finance across the continent. She
said the outcomes of the discussions provide a strong foundation as
stakeholders prepare for further dialogue at the upcoming 3i Africa Summit
scheduled for May.

Asante-Asiedu
stressed that sustained collaboration among financial regulators and technology
stakeholders will be key to unlocking Africa’s full digital and financial
potential while expanding financial inclusion across the region.
